The award is named in honor of Henry Giessenbier Jr. (1892-1935), the founder and first President of The United States Junior Chamber, which was established in 1920.

"Minnesota Junior Chamber chapters of this caliber do not simply happen, but they are a product of hard work, intestinal fortitude, and commitment that is derived from young professionals and those seeking professional development all across the state," said Greg Green, 2005 Minnesota State Jaycee President.
