Anne Ford Nelson and Colleen O'kane

Presidents Colleen O'Kane (left) and Anne Ford Nelson stand on the steps of the United States Supreme Court only a few months before the court's decision to allow women as full members of the United States Jaycees on July 3, 1984.

Nearly 20 other national and local organizations supported the Saint Paul Jaycees in its efforts to push the United States Junior Chamber to allow women as full members.

Chief Justice Warren E. Burger removed himself from the case due to a conflict of interest. Justice Burger served as the 8th president of the Saint Paul Jaycees.

Many past presidents of the Saint Paul Jaycees will attest that this event is one of the chapter's crowning achievements in its 75 year history of leadership development through community service.
